What will be of interest to us, future shareholders and industry will be the question of what will POET keep for themselves and what will they license. I get a sense that POETs goal is to grow the size of this company and keep as much of the high value, high margin products related to the optical engine (Datacom) for the company. If they are successful at producing an AOC that companies like Face Book want e.g. single mode...etc within the data center then they can ramp up production very quickly to supply that need and finance further developments in Datacom. I think areas related to VR, AR and sensing will be the areas that will need many companies to develop in order to advance time to market.
Further along I can see very advanced research being done by POET for logic applications where optical clock distribution is united within the chip to produce extremely fast and energy efficient processors.
What is on the roadmap today I think can be said to be the tip of the iceberg.
