NOBLE MINERAL EXPLORATION ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF A DIRECTOR AND ENGAGEMENT AS A SPECIAL STRATEGIC ADVISOR
Noble Mineral Exploration Inc. is appointing Dr. Samuel Peralta to its board of directors and as a special strategic adviser to the board.
Dr. Peralta's mandate will be to evaluate specific technology-based alternatives to the company's current business, recommend a related strategy and pursue to completion any related initiatives as directed by the board.
Dr. Peralta has nearly 35 years of business experience in the semiconductor, software and energy sectors. As a senior executive, Dr. Peralta has had direct responsibility for profit and loss, marketing, sales, and corporate and strategic development. He has had a successful record in overseeing spinoff companies, acquisitions and start-ups.
Currently he is director, business and corporate development, at Kinectrics, overseeing high-tech programs in the international nuclear industry. Previously, he was chief executive officer of Qvadis, a smart phone software provider; was chief technology officer for OH Solar, a photovoltaic firm based on an acquisition from Texas Instruments; and served in key positions at Ontario Hydro and the Ontario Laser and Lightwave Research Centre.
Dr. Peralta has extensive experience in turnaround and pivot situations, most recently helping orchestrate Poet Technologies Inc.'s successful pivot from a photovoltaic company to a fabless semiconductor company, which has a monolithic III-V semiconductor platform that is now disrupting the opto-electronic space.

Dr. Peralta was a founding board member of Poet Technologies Inc., a publicly traded company on the TSX Venture Exchange in Canada and also in the United States. Poet was named three times to the TSX Venture 50 and to Canadian Business magazine's Top Tech 100. In this capacity, Dr. Peralta served as the chair of the corporate governance and nominating committee, chair of the compensation committee, and member of the audit committee. He served on the board from 2006 to 2014, helping take Poet public, through several corporate transformations, and ultimately to its current success as a fabless semiconductor company.
Previously, he helped oversee the acquisition and turnaround of Texas Instruments Solar by Ontario Hydro Technologies and supported the pivot of Emerald Gateway International from a company specializing in automated meter reading to wireless security services.
Dr. Peralta currently serves on the board of directors of the Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries; of Peat Resources Ltd., currently considering a pivot into the gesture recognition vertical; and of Windrift Bay, a developer of new media properties. Previously, he served on the board of Opel Technologies and Opel Solar, predecessors of Poet Technologies; the board of Axiom NDT, a nuclear inspection services firm; the board of Envergence, which provided due diligence in the high-technology sector; and the board of Qvadis, a software developer in the hand-held mobile devices space.
"I'm looking forward to working on this initiative with Noble," said Dr. Peralta. "We've already had preliminary discussions on a number of opportunities which make use of emerging hybrid and integrated opto-electronic technologies as a basis for next-generation products."
Dr. Peralta received his PhD in physics from the University of Wales, and his scientific background is complemented by studies at the Rotman School of Management, the Schulich School of Business and Edinburgh Business School.
Dr. Peralta has received numerous technology and business awards from the high-tech community. He has authored over 200 papers, holds patents on isotopic semiconductor devices, and has been an invited speaker at conferences ranging from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's Advanced Study Institute (NATO-ASI).
