As posted yesterday I email her with the message below. She is looking for more details and referred to it as "good news story material". I have passed on her request to Robert Ferri and Mike White.
Hi Gail,
I am not sure if you have been following the POET story but a lot has happened since your last piece http://www.laserfocusworld.com/articles/print/volume-47/issue-11/world-news/gaas-modulator-is-first-poet-alternative-to-si-photonics.html
They are currently focused on Short Range and Very Short Range active optical links which they claim can be built at the cost of copper making it a very energy efficient alternative for copper link replacements. They anticipate having fully integrated transceivers protypes in the field by the end of 2016 and are currently doing this work at Anadigics 6 inch GaAs foundry in New Jersey.
A couple of interesting aspects to these data links using the unique POET structure. They report their VCSEL will operate with single mode and is a digital device with infinite extinction ratio.

There has been a complete change in the management team with some very high profile industry veterans now pushing this technology.
Might be worth another look.
