Doubt there is an incessant notion here that we are alone, it's the matter of how far along that counts. POET's devices, like those described in your article showed promise as a lab prototype also. That was years ago. When these lab fashioned photonics devices approach commercial viability, we will see what their advantages and disadvantages may be, I suspect it will be several more years though.

By the way, I like your posts CB, they are on point and provocative.
