Mystique, I am not sure if you actually listened to the CC when making that statement. An 850nm commercially acceptable prototype could never be built in the UCONN lab.

16:43 – It became clear early to both of us that this company has the opportunity to be truly world-class, and that required a very tight focus and a lab facility that cannot only validate the physics involved, but also scale up to produce commercially viable results. Rather than spend precious capital dollars upgrading the capabilities of an existing facility, we decided to accelerate our transition to commercial sources for both epitaxial wafers and manufacturing.

If you read on to the further statements made by Geoff he makes it clear that they have built the VCSEL at 980nm and have proven that 850nm is there along with the capability to use POET's disruptive electronics integration to drive and modulate on the same substrate.

At any rate they are clearly at an advanced stage to the point where they have transferred the epi sheet to suppliers to establish a wafer supply from two sources. I think we will probably hear more about this this month as really there has been nothing announced publicly about this other than in the conference call.
