If they were releasing material news that will substantially impact share price, it has to be equitably disbursed since the stock trades on multiple exchanges internationally. It's possible they could thread the needle and release while all European and North American markets are open.
More likely, a halt prior to any such announcement would allow for an orderly return to trading at an announced time. I do wonder, if the news is big enough, whether trading would or could be suspended and a Nasdaq listing announced, bypassing normal protocols, creating an IPO like situation. That process may be the subject of intense discussions at this time.
