It is very possible that some relationships have already been forged.

Say a Tony Blevins (or someone we don't know of yet) was interested in the technology. This is a very big step in a new direction from what has been the norm in Silicon Valley (for decades). The “partner” would need some very in-depth detail and an understanding of the process to make such a major shift in their company and partake in such a technology.

POET isn't going to hand over all of their info to anyone who wants a peek either. Some pretty sound legal work and confidentiality would need to be signed off on first. Even then to do this, there may be some monetary exchange between these companies. Someone, for example, like Apple may sign a preliminary/concessionary deal that states they need to be shown the intricacies of the processes and their capabilities.

Neither POET nor, any companies in this situation would want the info to be public. It leaves competitors preoccupied with their own innovations, and also doesn’t harm any other interests (example) Apple might have in other technologies/companies. Maybe they are doing tours and work with IBM and others. Part of the reason for a very tight lipped group.

I would imagine it is a very delicate process to court potential buyers who are also entertaining other options from competing manufacturers and designers.

Announcing any unsigned deal or negotiation with (example) Apple could hurt Apple's work with other companies competing for the business. It could also potentially hurt POET if a deal wasn't struck or fell through. (Apple walking could negatively impact faith in POET for example).

These and other multitudes of concerns would strongly warrant extended periods of silence to secure these deals. They could be detrimental to more than just POET and you need to maintain the respect and trust in your potential partners to bring them to light. Especially given that POET is a junior and looking to elevate themselves to the big boy playing field. They are not in a position to just snap their fingers and make it happen.

Even if POET was the best thing ever made, it doesn't guarantee its success unless they can convince and be awarded concrete contracts from the players who will make it a reality.

Rushing anything might only pull the foundation out from under a potential goliath. The fact that management have ignored these protests from people hoping the more they bitch that management will feel pressured to release something, shows their strength.

They are working with some of the best minds in the business. The only thing early management might have wished they had done differently was not to have released a Pellegrino report and limit information to necessity until deals were done. It did draw a lot of attention and we can thank it for bringing many of us here early...but if you want it to become a reality, Rainer’s Trademarked “Patience” needs to be more than a word that gets tossed around here a lot.J
