What a week - wow - reading the board these days feels like an emotional roller coaster ride - experience that alternates between making you feel exhilarated, disappointed, happy, desperate all at once - truly remarkable - keep it rolling.

my thoughts tonight:

It took 100 years to connect 1 billion places and 25 years to connect 5 billion people. The next step is connecting things. It’s about innovative ways of doing business and shaping the future - together - as well as a renewed approach to global challenges such as education, healthcare, climate change and our use of natural resources. Some call it “internet of things”, others “the digital revolution”, Ericsson Corp. even “the networked society” (link below). Well, simply put, once again an industrial revolution is at our doorstep.

The First Industrial Revolution used water and steam power to mechanize production. The Second used electric power to create mass production. The Third used electronics and information technology to automate production. Now a Fourth Industrial Revolution is building on the Third, the digital revolution that has been occurring since the middle of the last century. It is characterized by a fusion of technologies that is blurring the lines between the physical, digital, and biological spheres.

We stand on the brink of a technological revolution that will fundamentally alter the way we live, work, and relate to one another. In its scale, scope, and complexity, the transformation will be unlike anything humankind has experienced before. We do not yet know just how it will unfold, but one thing is clear: the response to it must be integrated and comprehensive, involving all stakeholders of the global polity, from the public and private sectors to academia and civil society.

What we do know - to implemented such a colossal data-driven network an technology shift needs to occur - the Photonic shift - an important first step on the journey toward the ultimte goal know throughout the scientific world as "Harnessing Light - Essential Technologies for our Nation ” (U.S. National Research Council Report on Optics in the 21st Century 1998 and updated in 2013)

Given the massive changes taking form around the world today, particularly in regards to some of the immediate global challenges needing to be addressed, I don't see success being achieved without true innovation, and I certainly don't see how true innovation could ever be achieved today without a sustained collaborative effort.

Mr. Manocha powerful, collaborative business model will be key and has been already adopted by some of the most recognizable brands on the planet. Global companies that are regarded as some of the leading innovators across a broad range of sectors. Companies that understand an urgent need for creating new products with more consumer driven benefits to address some of the problems facing our world today. These majors are proud of a reputation for choosing to only work with the very best science and very best scientific minds from around the world.
