Dash8400: I would think that solar will be the power source of the future, once they get all of the issues worked out, since the sun sends us way more energy every day than we could possibly use.
That's a common misconception. True, the sun sends vast amounts of energy to the earth. However, to collect that energy we'd have to cover large areas of land with solar panels. Solar energy is too diffuse to collect it economically. Of course solar is very useful for mobiles, wearables etc. which have a relatively low power consumption, but powering a highly-developed, industrialized economy securely? Won't work. Never.
