The fact that a foundry has committed to make the Chip clearly shows that POET's design is practical and deliverable.
I personally don't expect the first molded Chip be fully functional as their designer hope, and the foundry most probably has to mold the second or even the third Chip, prior to fully acceptance of it by POET.
Producing the right Chip will have huge impact on SP. Real market leaders and big brothers will be much more interested in the potential of POET's product, and at that time we should see their efforts to buy it out or invest in it.
Be optimistic and don't let backroom boys scare you! They want your shares cheap!
