Dear all,

not sure whether we find some expert answers or think around it together, but I'd be interested in understanding what was Dr. Taylors (incl. Poets) original motivation to develop the technology - starting ~ 20 years ago. Who could have been the actors demanding for it (military???, ???)? Looking to semiconductor & related industry, the world today looks much different than 20 years ago. Another item to consider might be if there have ever been other materials than GaAs which have been evaluated for use by Dr. Taylor.
