"Preparing for a development alliance with comprehensive documentation and full availability of technology design kitwill definitively enable industry partners to incorporate POET technology into their products, thereby shortening time-to-market for potential products, and helping to commercialize POET in the marketplace quickly.''

''the SSC will be dissolved and the Company will now change its focus from research to development, with a view to 2014 being the major recognition year for the POET technology."

Jan. 20, 2014 - POET Technologies-Valuation Update

Feb. 24, 2014 - POET Technologies Announces Integrated Optoelectronic Infrared Device Fabrication and Industrial Foundry Validation

The accomplishment is made more significant because the POET wafers used for the IR devices were fabricated with an independent foundry, BAE Systems.

"Having IR detection for the first time is a major milestone for the POET technology," said Dr. Pane Chao, technical director at BAE Systems' Microelectronics Center.

"BAE Systems' relationship with POET Technologies is mutually beneficial in that we are able to supply foundry services while being exposed to this rapidly evolving capability."

The POET IR device addresses the need of military and industrial clients for uncooled mid-wave infrared (MWIR) and long-wave infrared (LWIR) sensors and cameras - for perimeter security, thermography, medical imaging, automotive forward sensors, andsmartphone input applications.

Beyond the fully-integrated monolithic IR detector, the Company remains on track to deliver to industry, and specifically to its development partners, other fully-integrated monolithic optoelectronic devices based on the Company's POET platform.

March 4, 2014 - POET Switching Laser

The Company has achieved the long-awaited milestone (MS-5) - the operation of its switching laser.

Peter Copetti, Executive Chairman and interim CEO, noted,"This is the most definitive step yet in our drive to enhance POET's electronic and optical monolithic capability, beyond CMOS and silicon photonics."

Drive for Feature Size to 100-nm Range (MS-8)

POET is moving steadily towards the goal of 100-nm feature sizes for the transistors within the POET platform, and has stabilized feature definition at the sub-200-nm level.

The 100-nm goal is matched to the state-of-the-art commercial III-V foundry...

POET anticipates completion of the 100-nm milestone by the end of April 2014.

Technical Development Kits (TDK)

The Company is reporting that, with the help of select potential POET Development Alliance (PDA) partners, progress on this milestone is ahead of the schedule...

March 31, 2014

Mr. Peter Copetti, Executive Chairman and interim CEO, noted, "Over the last few months, the Company has moved dramatically from proof-of-principle through:

  • lab device demonstration;

  • full third-party validation with a commercial foundry; and

  • working with select potential partners on technical design kits.

We are entering a new parallel stage -- increasing quality and design robustness for manufacturability as part of commercialization of our game changing IP

April 7, 2014 - POET-Based Quantum Computing IP

In addition to this portfolio, the Company recently filed for protection a number of new IP classes with USPTO, as well as in Canada, Japan, Korea, and other key jurisdictions.

"The commercialization process of the Company's POET platform has historically yielded intellectual assets with future commercial development potential meriting IP protection," said Mr. Copetti. "While the Company has focused assets and effort on near-term commercialization goals, our labs are generating future IP as well."

April 14, 2014 - POET Technologies' Chief Scientist in Spotlight at Empire Club's Spirit of a Pioneer

The Spirit of a Pioneer series hosts Canadian and international thought leaders - women and men who have distinguished themselves in many fields of endeavor.

The Spirit of a Pioneer series has included among it speakers Winston Churchill, Pierre Elliot Trudeau, Ronald Reagan, Indira Gandhi, Michael Bloomberg, and science and technology luminaries such as Margaret Mead, James Lovell, Roberta Bondar, David Suzuki, Thorsten Heins, Michael Dell, Vinton Cerf, Bertram Brockhouse, John Polanyi, and Bill Gates.

May 27, 2014 - POET Technologies Provides Update on 100-nm Initiative, Process Equipment Upgrade, and Technology Design Kits

100-nm Initiative

The scale-down to sub-100-nm scale will demonstrate our ability to fabricate competitive digital devices with III-V materials to a point that has never been demonstrated before.

Upgraded Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE)

Dr. Geoff Taylor, Chief Scientist of the Company, noted, "With the old MBE system, we had demonstrated the short wavelength optical capabilities of our process, mainly for datacenter applications. With our newly-upgraded MBE system, our capabilities have expanded to fabricating optical devices with long wavelengths. This is critical for our POET offerings in the long-haul, networking and optical equipment market."

PET Technology Design Kit (TDK)

This PET/TDK milestone (MS-12) focuses on devices requiring only the electronic subset of the POET process; PET offers lower cost and simpler process fab options for applications that do not require the full POET optical feature set. The PET/TDK allows the Company to deliver its technology to fab partners and customers, and enable further innovation to integrate both analog and digital functions together - an application that is not possible today using silicon CMOS.

PET-based electronic devices represent a breakthrough in performance and power efficiency over silicon CMOS technologies, both existing today and on the industry roadmap. PET/TDK models will be available to third parties around the end of the third quarter 2014.

July 7, 2014 - POET Technologies Appoints Ajit Manocha as Executive Vice Chairman and Announces Other Board Updates

Mr. Manocha was most recently CEO of GlobalFoundries, the second-largest semiconductor foundry in the world, formerly the manufacturing arm of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and expanded via the acquisition of Chartered Semiconductor.

July 8, 2014 - POET Technologies Announces Technology and Regulatory Updates

100-nm Scaling and Prototype Initiatives

The Company's 100-nm scaling and prototype initiatives have successfully achieved a culmination point where transition to a third-party foundry is now being negotiated.

The 100-nm initiative reduces the feature size of key POET devices down to the 100-nm range. In the course of this program, the technical team developed numerous processes critical to the practical application of POET, which will now form the basis of several new patent applications.

The prototype initiative aims to put together several key device building blocks, all with integrated optical and electronic capability, into an integrated circuit ("IC") or array of Ics. Development of the two initiatives have proceeded in parallel so far, but are technologically linked.

Mr. Peter Copetti, Executive Chairman and interim CEO, noted, "We are extremely proud of how far our team has come. We are now at a point where the capabilities of a third-party foundry are required for practical demonstration, as well as subsequent third-party validation. We look forward to proceeding on this basis."

Ajit Manocha Joins the Company

As disclosed, Mr. Manocha will help in determining the strategic direction of the Company, and work directly with the Company's Executive Chairman and interim CEO in carrying out actions to support that strategic direction, specifically including: mergers and acquisitions, and related transitions; joint ventures, collaborations, partnerships and other industry relationships; assistance in capital raises; and identification and installation of a permanent CEO.

Mr. Manocha commented: "POET promises tremendous potential to the semiconductor industry as a next-generation technology. I am looking forward to being part of the POET Team and especially working directly with Mr. Copetti on building shareholder value."
