The options give him the right to buy 500,000 shares at $1.75 from the company's treasury. He doesn't have to do it - certainly not at a loss. He has this right until the options expire- usually some years in the future - I'm not sure how long his are good for. He wil receive 3 more 500,000 option packages over the next 2 years.
