As a former student of motivational theory Marswells Hierarchy of needs et al, I ponder why it is as humans we are motivated to take risks.
The most meanigful explanation I heard was the equation that Motivation is the combination of two factors, one, that an individual has the belief that he has the capacity and resources to achieve a particular goal, times two, that individual's perception of the value of the rewards of achieveing that goal. The point being that managers can affect both sides of that equation.
As a normally well motivated individual, I have the resouces and patience to be long on POET and my percetion is that the rewards of an implemented POET is needed for mankind's advancement and financially I have a more than reasonalbe chance of obtaining significant finacial reward.
Its a risk yes but worthwhile and I am motivated.
