Regarding the "competitors catching up" argument from other posts, please keep in mind that they can only catch up so far. As long as competitors rely on silicon they are bound to the fundamental problems of energy consumption and heat transfer, which are problem per se and also constrain speed gains. Yes, competitor can improve their silicon processes here and there, but not by the orders of magnitude gallium-arsenide unfolds when being properly dealt with by the POET process.
