Dash8400: Yes, it's a cultural thing; associations here in N. America are related to unions, which in broad terms are generally frowned upon anymore.

That's very interesting, Dash8400, and a culture clash indeed! What do small shareholders in North America do to make themselves heard? Do they get together and instead of association call it group, club, gang, brigade or whatever? Or don't they get together at all and leave everything to large shareholders, hostile bidders and (possibly bad) management?
