TRADING HALTED

A trading halt is a temporary suspension of trading in a particular security on the exchange. When trading is halted on a company, it is typically for one of two reasons:

  1. The security is halted to allow dissemination of related news that may have material impact on the value of the company. A trading halt may be initiated by the company, by the exchange or by the market regulator. Trading halts of this nature will normally only last a few hours.
  2. The security is halted for non-compliance of the exchange’s listing requirements, such as filing of financial statements or payment of listing fees. Trading halts of this nature are typically longer as the company is required to satisfy the exchange’s listing requirements before trading resumes.
  3. WebBroker will allow you to place new orders or change existing order in anticipation of resumption in trading on halted securities, but the order must have a Day expiry and a Limit price. Please be aware that your order may not be executed if the halt remains in place until the end of the trading session.

For further information on the reason behind a particular trading halt, please consult the exchange’s website or the company’s investor relations department.
