Just to clarify, I believe the company's statement was issued "at the request of IIROC Market Surveillance and on behalf of the Toronto Stock Exchange." The company was presumably asked by regulators to confirm that there was no important undisclosed company information that might be encouraging some informed buyers to buy the stock. I don't think the company is "playing the game." The regulators apparently didn't feel they were asking a question that was "not relevant."
