Your math has been done correctly Deke, as your assumptions are also correct.

The diorite host has a density at about 2.9 tonnes per cubic metre, whereas the quartz is closer to 2.8. Although the quartz seldom comprises anywhere near 50% of a sample, a rock density of 2.85 would be very close to being accurate.
