A great placard in the construction of the corner the Nuns makes its new use clear. The building France will be a center for the formation of Venezuelan goldsmiths who will be recruited of different communities from the city, as they indicate spokesmen of the Municipal Sindicatura of Liberator.

In the extinct center jeweler of Caracas 95 retailers and 500 people worked who were evacuated days after the president of the Republic, Hugo Chavez, commanded to expropriate to France and three buildings that make corner with the place Bolivar.

The operation of a school of jewellery in center of Caracas was rejected by some workers of France. Elisa Áñez stood out that the training of young goldsmiths “with the support and the experience of the employees of France” could be raised. “They eliminate jobs of families of low resources to train goldsmiths. They use the buildings that they have left in the historical helmet, Leon de Oros, Main cinema or Junín Theater to give courses”, said.

Alberto Rivers worked 39 years like goldsmith of France. The expert jeweler informed that the building did not need to be a school of goldsmiths. “They will bring other instructors instead of to ask for aid to us to train to new generations”, said in the corner the Nuns while he observed its old site of work.

Rivers affirmed that to be goldsmith a curriculum must be structured to treat and to weld metals like gold, silver and receive. “It is an art to know how to weld with blowpipe to gas or gasoline. Also to polish jewels and to fuse gold to create original pieces. In order to train a goldsmith they are required more than four years”, stood out.

The goldsmith assured that in studies superiors he is due to learn to design jewels and to arm them in exclusive figures or to taste of the consumer (earrings, rings). “The educative base must promote the development of pieces and adaptations that are elaborated with the use of you file and dies”, indicated.

Rivers needed that in Caracas 20 goldsmiths with great professionalism hardly know themselves who turned and created quality pieces, among them he remembers to Arming Rodriguez and Asdrúbal Tello.

Some jewelers of France were trained by Johnny Morals, goldsmith for 36 years who has worked in recognized jewelry shops of the east of the city, among them Swiss Factory, in center Commercial Tamanaco.

Morals remember that the building France was constructed more ago than 54 years for the operation of a hotel. “They will have to modify and to interconnect its spaces to place a jewellery school there”, said.

The instructor thinks that France does not have the space nor definition to place work blocks that serve to teach to young people the jewellery.

“European blocks are due to create, as it happens in Germany and Italy, to structure spaces where it is learned to record pieces, engastes, modelismo and design of jewels, weld, pulitura and die”, said.

Morals affirmed that an ample study for the creation must become of a school of jewellery in France. “There are European preparations that make use of this type of education to create medians industries that become reference of many countries”.

The goldsmith indicates that in Caracas this education is oriented towards “areas of occupation and office” (watchmaking).

“Who dictate the factories only know a part the jewellery. In the east of the city it is the American Academy and by the Executive to courses in the National Institute of Qualification and Socialist Education (Inces) of San Martin were dictated and the avenue New Granada on matricería, jewelry shop and jewelry store”, indicated Morals, that added that it is important that this type of schools exists in the city with a good structuring and design.

“That allows to create jobs, as it happened in India, Bombay, Brazil and Thailand. The jewellery in the country is an office that was conserved, became selective and it was transferred to generations of families. But now the risk is run of developing cultural poverty in case a good school of goldsmiths is not structured”, said.

Presidential commission
Rosaida Hernandez, president of the City council of Liberator, informed that for the creation of the school of jewellery in the France and affectation of the rest of his spaces it was created a presidential commission integrated by the minister of Culture, Farruco Sesto, the female leader of Government of the Capital District, Jacqueline Faría and by the mayor of Liberator, Jorge Rodriguez.

“A specific plan for the use of France is being created”, said Hernandez.
