Legger, the cash is deposited into your RRSP account. If you want the cash then you will have to ask for a withdrawal from your RRSP and it will be treated like any other RRSP withdrawal - taxable. (with the bank/broker forwarding to CRA a 10% withholding tax off the top of the redemption amount)
