Assume its a formula based on expected gain / loss per share.
If MNKD is losing 0.14 per share, for typical stock price reaction to earnings report, that number would make sense.
But, you and I know the inflated stock price is betting on results release, which is probably next week.
This piece was the final straw for me requesting my money returned for Motley Fools "premium" report.
I listed out item by item how far off Motley Fool is on their research and their ability to offer educated / unique information on Mannkind.
If you're going to be bearish on the stock, at least offer some valid reasons why you are!
Even with the HFT shenanigans thrown out, todays volume was not as big as I would hope on a material event.
That being said, I'd much rather it be up 4% on average volume, than down 4% on above average volume.
The average trading volume is skewed from the shenanigans with HFT and dark pools, when we dropped down from almost 8, to 6, two weeks ago, and there were 38 million shares traded.
That days volume, and the remainder of the week, skewed the average volume statistics.
Remove that nonsense, and today was in fact a large volume day.
"Average" is by far the worst statisic known to man, I much prefer "median" :-)
Interesting Note:
The analyst who upgraded the price target was Ian Somaiya:

Not much of a comparison to the ORMP hack on SA :-)
