Yes...perceived simple wireless devices that have direct connect ....vs. standard N home network configurations are a problem.
Most all new devices you look at now are stand alone wireless direct connect ....eg...printers.
What it means, direct connect stand alone devices seek your home network and utilize the router to directly connect to the vendors site full time....no control plug and play non configuration necessary.
In the case of printers, the vendor tracks your printing activities....eg number of pages you print...time...etc.
Thing is, this is offered as a service for ink issues if one wishes to apply for the service. However, if you do not want the service there is a direct connection regardless for the benefit of the vendor company....as in collecting statistical information.
One has to have the ability to configure and block the activity at the router/ hub, or these companies are going to move right into your life in a big way.
All I can say, everyone get intimate with your router/hub..and use an old version, because the new units are just as invasive. You won't be able to trust any new hardware / firewalls soon.
