So management of all that was new at the time to flash
memory. And we had to deal with that in order to efficiently
make use of this media called flash to be useful to us.
Q And with respect to figure 1, was the flash memory 29,
that's reflected in the block diagram, is that where the
digital data was stored once it had been processed?
A Yes, sir.
Q So we have to process; then we have to store?
A Right.
Q Take a look at -- on the cross-examination there was a
reference to claim 10 of the '774 patent.
A To what again?
Q Claim 10.
A Claim 10. And that's page -- that's column 11?
Is that correct?
Q That's correct.
A Okay.
Q And you were read only a portion of that claim. But what
claim 10 actually says is, A device as defined in claim 1; said
device further comprising compression circuitry coupled to the
memory circuitry for compressing digital signal for storage in
the flash memory module. You see that claim 10?
A Yes.
Q Do you have an understanding as to whether compression
circuitry, coupled to the memory circuitry for compressing
digital data for storage, whether or not that process, at the
time that this was written, would have involved the use of RAM?
A It was exclusively RAM.
The flash memory module is distinct from the other
memory that was used for all this processing stuff.
