Mike Power Property
Property Description
The eastern boundary of the Mike Power property, which comprises 26 contiguous claims covering 3,398 hectares, is located approximately 3.5 km northwest of the Rice Lake Gold Mine in the town of Bissett. The property straddles the Gold Creek shear zone and consists of mafic to intermediate tuffs and minor amounts of fine grained sediments. A mobile metal ions (“MMI”) geochemical survey in 2005-06 indicated the existence of two extensive gold anomalies straddling Gold Creek; outcrops and drill core display intensive shearing and alteration in the underlying rocks. The central part of this property is bisected by an anticlinal structure and shear zone that has been proposed to be a significant source of gold mineralization, “The Golden Fairway”, by geologists of the adjoining SanGold Rice Lake Mine.
Activities in 2009
A compilation of all relevant geological information pertaining to the Mike Power property was prepared. Wildcat continued evaluating the mineral potential of this property. Several days prospecting on this property was undertaken in 2009 in an attempt to verify the possible occurrence of gold bearing mineralization in eaststriking fractures parallel to an anticlinal structure in volcanic rocks.
Activities Contemplated for 2010
In 2010, all previous exploration work will be compiled in preparation for this summer’s field activities. It is demonstrated, that gold mineralization in the Rice Lake greenstone belt is structurally controlled, and hosted in various stratigraphic units. To follow up and prepare the area for subsequent drilling, a geological mapping program and magnetic survey to identify drilling targets are planned.
