This is the correct procedure and I'm glad you're doing it. The system can be abused IMO especially if the one doing the deleting is of a higher (thread) rank than the deletee. It has just happened to me and I suspect that this was the reason - although I haven't had the courtesy of a PM from the person who did the deleting - I got a PM from Agoracom who may have instigated this but I doubt if they have time comb every post
