I didn't interpret the press release in this way. They've guided for having data in August for a while. To change this guidance would be detrimental to the share price, as the market would interpret this as meaning the company is data mining.
I know we all want to read between the lines and look for clues, but that won't get us anywhere. The science is solid and we just have to wait.
If it makes anyone feel any better, I held all of my shares through the ARNA AdCom and PDUFA. It was somewhat strenuous, especially in light of the shorts and all of the bashing (Adam Feuerstein included), but the science prevailed in the end. I see the same thing happening here.
