The Scientific Research center of Venezuela (CIEV), indicated that it continues receiving denunciations by the massive incursion of illegal miners for the gold extraction and makes shine like diamonds, that makes be in danger already affected river basins of the river Caroní and Alto Paragua.

The holder of this environmentalist NGO, Alexander Lanz, said that some indigenous spokesmen of the communities of Pretty and the Candlemas have informed into the increase of Brazilian and guyaneses that dedicate themselves to this activity.

“They informed According to us in all this zone pertaining to the western edge into the National Park Canaima is being realised illegal mining on a large scale with hydraulic motors, as well as they have activated several rafts in the Caroní river (...) in this zone has communicated to us that are around two thousand illegal ones”, it indicated Lanz.

In this sense he alerted on the air movements that they are carrying out themselves in the local airport of the Paragua, to spurt from mining food, equipment and other materials to the illegal mines.
