I agree, if no agreement is made by Dec, I fear CUU will move sub $1 into 2012. However, the European leaders are coming to a consensus to a viable solution faster than we think. Italy and Spain bond yields are exceptionally high (high of 6%). The ECB is buying these up. Italy will undergo a fiscal reform into 2012 and the slow hard recovery of the EU will begin.
CUU's timing is perfect. With todays' future macro image unknown, it gives us (those whom aren't contrarians) a chance to invest into a world-class deposit at discount levels (refer to insider trading via vette/webgogs).
Ultimately, the Titans are great, but because of the sheer size and lack of interpretation, it was not enough to push the SP. Once the revised RE and BFS are released, you will see less cross trades and less lurkers trying to bring us down.
Have some dry powder ready for a pre-revised RE, pre-BFS attack. It will happen, as if you analyze CUU's SP per NR, you will see attempts to bring us down the day before news or on the day of.
Teck will back-in or buy-out CUU, it's inevitable. A corporation like Teck, with it's stature and reputation will not sit the sidelines and see this project move into other hands. If you look at the global economic turmoil today, not only does it make every project a little less "golden", but it gives us a clearer means of valuation and comparison. Does Galore look better now then how it did 8 months ago compared to CUU? Nope.
